Google, wherefore art thou?

Many of us are familiar with the Google behemoth and everyday users of its applications such as Google mail, docs, sites, maps, and many more. However, what is Google exactly, and what do they provide us with? Aside from being a large bank of data they collect from all of its users and store for a purpose no one really knows what is, is Google really that worth while? As they have shifted in many ways to really spear head business needs across the world on a large scale, I can't argue a better opportunity in terms of business. But as far as use to the average consumer, is it really worth while to expect much more than a solid mail and map system? Many of their apps and products come out lackluster, such as Google sites, docs, and even gmail. Many of the features are very simple, and there is a lot of functionality that could be, but simply is not. And this is Google we're talking about. The once search engine, I vied and was biased against in ninth grade. What the heck is Google and Dogpile? I want to search with Ask.com. First, because I'm only human and lazy, and second, Why would I Google when I could ask. But now, Google is my home page, and has been, ever since I can remember now. Anyways, why isn't Google coming out with something breathtaking? The nice customized Google logo every holiday and a while are nice and everything, but I want something that is going to truly blow my socks off! It seems that most of their apps are very beta-esque, and attempt to feel out and see what the public really likes. From my experience as a technical guru since I was 7 years old, it has only been the ballsy, hey this is what we are doing and we are gonna blow your mind with it kind of approach. Not Google. The only thing that has impressed me of them in the past 5 years is Google earth, and what is that? just a 3 dimensional sphere that stretches over half a million square kilometers that can be rotated, spun, searched, directed, and even manipulated with motion sensors in gadgets such as the ipad, iphone, and maybe android devices? Well, as someone also with an average consumer mindset, I want more than just a map of the world I live on, where I can zoom in and even see what color pants I was wearing that day. I want apps that will make my year to year finances something I can rely on, help me make smart decisions, and put my worries to rest. I want online content to be able to load onto my computer, and me be able to use it away from my wireless internet where I can feel safe, secure, and productive. Google is hiding it somewhere and holding it at bay, until a time that we will only see it as useful. But maybe they will get their act together and really release something terrific that sparks our imagination sometime soon.
